no, dca540 is only a data cable, it doesn't involve electronic parts as dca510 |

It is possible, but you need Prolific PL2303 USB<->UART converter.
I hadn't find any shop that is selling this chip, but maybe you can find some.
If you have it, you nearly did it. :-)
Then you just have to search the net for scheme of dca510 ...
I was looking for it because I needed that converter from it and it is possible to find that scheme. Then there are just a few external IC's ... some max232 (uart<->rs232) and optionally eeprom (if you have more of those cables, you can program unique ID there, so they wont have conflicts).
IMO instead of that prolific chip you can try to use FTDI FT232BM (that newer version).
It has nearly the same parameters and you can easily order it somewhere ...
(I have been playing with those FTDI chips these days ... they work great! :-) ) _________________ C25->MT50 FW18->S65 FW58-> >>>SXG75 FW22 + 1GB SanDisc<<< (a dalsi co mam v rodine M35i, ME45@S45i, CF62, CX65@CX70)

For patching you don´t need service mode.
