The phone is SL75
product: SL7F
sw: 35
Init file: sk-Orange-G_016_SL7F
FFS Version: SL7F_2_sk-Orange-G_35_0330
Variant: A972
Standard map/sw: 1/35
Language/T9: lg41/0
Firmware vers: Patch: 26 / Audio: 2
Fw patch from: ROM

The phone does not accept FFSInit - "Could not create folder Cache"
The phone does not accept winswup update - "...firmware update rejected by the phone"

It has some sort of vertical toolbar on the left-hand side of the start screen, stupid Orange menu and icons...
The soft-keys and joystick are locked to some Orange functions

Please instruct me how can I remove Orange, and apply retail FFSInit & winswup firmware update!
Thanks for any help!

What type of data cable do you have? Did you try to generate codes thru java application?

At the moment I have DCA-500, but I can borrow some service cable from the local service shop.
I did not try anything except to apply FFSInit and winswup fw update, as described at the top.
The phone is new and I did not want to experiment without knowing exactly what to do.
If you have some useful advice please help.
Are you suggesting that I should go through unlocking (skey calculating) procedure?
The phone is not SIM-locked, nor network-locked.
The phone works with a SIM card of my local operator, and I managed to set everything up (EGPRS, MMS, Wap, E-mail, Mini-Opera) everything is working!
I just want to get rid of the Orange icons & menus. And also that Orange toolbar at the start screen, because the joystick and the soft buttons are all locked to this toolbar...
Sad

Thanks for your suggestion, but the main problem would be SL75 FullFlash!
As far as I know there's no such thing on any site that stores firmwares, fubus etc... at least I could not find it anywhere (cz, ru, de, nl... checked all the sites that I know of, but no result!?!)

Thanks for your time Orpheus, and your FTP is very nice... quite impressive collection of usefull stuff.

I'll keep searching for a SL75 fullflash (non-branded)

Well, ill try to find a fullflash.. But, theres another solution,

Using Smelter we can create your own fubu from firmware.
1. Download firmware (exe-file)
2. a) If it is Update then: Smelter - Tools - WinSwup - Extract XBZ from Update.exe
2. b) If it is Service then: Smelter - Tools - WinSwup - Extract XBI from Service.exe
3. Smelter - Lists - XBI-explorer. Open xb*-file
4. RightClick - Save - Fullflash.

EDIT.. I found a fullflash

Thanks for your answer.
The file that I have is SL75390400.xbi_service.exe (from SM I believe), and I will try your instructions with Smelter. Do I connect the phone for this operation, or Smelter just extracts the ff from winswup and creates a file for future use?

It is also great that you posted the link for download of ff, but the transfer rate at the moment is very slow... perhaps I will try to download it some other time.
I guess that SL75 ff that is now available on SM is the same file from your link!?!

Yes, smelter is a offline tool. You dont need to connect the phone. Just generate the codes with papua utils, copy them to V_klay, connect to phone and flash the fullflash. Then the phone will only beep at turn on, that means you need to unlock. You can do it also thru papua utils.

And yes, i copied the fullflash from my site do the siemensmania section..

OK thanx!
I did everything like you instruct me (had to download the latest version of smelter), but here is my question:
1. The ff file that smelter produced is SL75390400.bin_service.bin - size: 98304KB
2. The downloaded ff file from SM, when unpacked from rar, is SL75_new_24.bin - size: 65536KB
There is a huge diference in sizes, why?!?
Also when I pack the bigger file wit WinRar it's only half the size than the rar file I have downloaded...
Very unusual (!?!)
Anyway thanks a lot for your help, I am now waiting to get DCA-510 cable

Just for a safety check:
Unlocking (connect the phone)
1. Copy px75v1 to the phone and run it to calculate the codes IMEI, ESN and HASH
2. Run PapuaUtils and take over the codes from px75v1
3. Calculate SKey and BootKey with Papua
4. Enter HWID
5. Write SKey with Papua to the phone
6. Don't save *.log (Cancel)
7. Confirm (Yes)
8. Generate with Papua loader files for VKlay (and x65Flasher)

9. Copy generated v_klay loader into Program Files/ViSoft/V_Klay/data/Loaders
10. Run VKlay and open the ff bin file and flash it to the phone

??????
Please comment the full procedure if necessary!
Do I switch the phone on / off somewhere along the line?
Smile

Yes, the procedure is ok, you need to have a turned off phone. After flashing the FF with V_klay, you need to unlock the phone with Papua.
With the FF, i dont know why the FF from smelter is bigger, but you should burn the one that is downloaded from our site, im sure she is 100% ok

The mobile phones in my country are usually coming from some foreign country networks.
Before they are sold they pass necessary unlocking procedure (SIM-Lock, Network-Lock).
For Siemens phones the usual method of unlocking is by Martech box & Test Point.
I believe that my phone has gone through the same procedure before it came to the shop where I have bought it.
Does this make any difference concernig ANYTHING that we have discussed in this topic?
