This is from the original FAQ on Siemens site, for those of you who experienced described problem with DCA-510:

Solution

If any Bluetooth™ serial stuff is installed on your computer, update tool hangs during scanning BT-COM-Ports.

The mapped COM-port-number is greater than 10. Example: Update works fine if mapped to COM7.
Update does not work if mapped to COM24.
Hint: you cannot influence the mapped COM-portnumber, it is set by system during installing!

To solve problem:
Rightclick on workstation symbol on desktop -> properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager.
Click on the List at "Ports (COM & LPT)" and rightclick on BT-Port to deactivate it; also make a rightcklick to check -> properties -> settings -> advanced -> select a free COM-Port number less than 10.
